This Intensive is perfect for the aspiring young thespian wanting to participate in a full production. Students learn all the things that go into creating a play and working in an ensemble. They will have the opportunity to perform in front of an audience for four shows. This is an invaluable experience for those interested in acting and wanting to build their skillset while also getting the chance to perform on a professional stage. Melissa began Shooting Stars Theatre in 2013, she has offered year-round classes where her students have been involved in the local Speech Arts & Drama festival, winning various awards over the years. Melissa took over Debbie McGladdery’s Bard in the Yard summer camp in the summer of 2013 where the focus was on presenting abridged Shakespeare plays. Melissa has directed 12 Shakespeare plays and 6 modern plays since offering the summer intensives. Last year she tried something different by merging Shakespearean language with modern English to create SHAKESPLOSION! Melissa trained as an actor in Calgary and has performed in numerous productions. She has also worked at Theatre NorthWest, Western Canada Theatre, and the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. Currently, she is an Artistic Associate at Theatre NorthWest. Melissa loves to teach and is consistently inspired by the talented young actors that take part in her summer intensives and their passion and dedication.
